Located with in the city of Rome is the city and State of the Holy See, better know as the Vatican. It is home and residence of the popes who have succeeded St Peter, who was martyred and buried here.The Vatican has been a sovereign state since 1929 when it was guaranteed this right by the Latern Treaty. About 1,000 people live in this tiny state.
